Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Lead Physical Engineer to head the Renewables Substation team, directing substation design for large-scale, transmission-connected projects. You will mentor a three-to-five person team and collaborate with P&C and Civil/Structural leads to ensure coordinated, compliant designs.

The role demands PE licensure, 7–9 years of substation experience, and strong communication. Office-based with flexible travel and a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• 7–9 years of substation design and engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, grounding, and clearances.
• PE License and strong written/verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NERC, and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of 35kV to 500kV substations, ensuring proper placement and grounding.
• Coordinate with P&C and Civil/Structural teams for integrated design.
• mentor a three-to-five person Physical design team and oversee deliverables.
• Provide technical support in procurement, vendor reviews, and construction.
• Drive project management, schedules, and quality assurance across multiple projects.
