Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Physical Engineer to lead substation physical engineering and design for large-scale renewable energy projects.

You will mentor a design team of three to five engineers and designers and coordinate with other disciplines to deliver compliant, high-quality documentation. This in-office role requires strong knowledge of 35kV–500kV layouts, grounding, lighting, and equipment specifications, plus familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and 3D

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• 7-9 years of substation design and engineering experience.
• PE License required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NERC standards.
• Experience with 3D design software and large-scale renewables projects.

Responsibilities

• Design leadership for 35kV to 500kV physical substation layouts.
• Lead a three-to-five engineer/design team and mentor staff.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design consistency.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specs, and BOMs.
• Oversee project timelines and resources to ensure delivery.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes and regulatory requirements.
• Engage in client meetings and provide design updates.
