Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Lead Physical Engineer to join our Renewables Substation team. You will lead physical engineering and design for large-scale renewable projects and mentor a design team of engineers and drafters.

The role requires coordinating with other disciplines and ensuring documentation meets ANSI/IEEE/NEC/NESC/NERC standards, delivering 35kV–500kV substations with robust grounding and protection design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• PE license required; strong communication skills.
• 7–9 years in substation design and engineering.
• Understanding of grounding, protection, illumination and clearances.
• Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NERC standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of 35kV to 500kV physical substations.
• Mentor a team of 3–5 engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure coordinated documents.
• Prepare calculations, BOMs, and construction docs.
• Ensure compliance with codes and regulatory requirements.
