Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Physical Engineer to lead the substation design for large-scale renewable energy projects. You will mentor a small design team, ensure coordination with engineering and drafting groups, and uphold codes and standards across multiple disciplines.

The role emphasizes leadership, advanced substation knowledge, and collaboration with project engineers to deliver high-quality design documents and calculations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 7–9 years of experience in substation design and engineering.
• PE License and strong knowledge of substation equipment and layouts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with industry standards and codes; willingness to lead a design team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of 35kV to 500kV substations for large renewable projects.
• Mentor and supervise a three-to-five person Physical design team.
• Coordinate with Drafters, other disciplines, and external stakeholders to ensure design integrity.
