Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to direct commissioning and design of HV/EHV substations. You will guide a team, develop protection/control/telecom concepts, and coordinate with clients and vendors.

The role involves travel to client sites and a generous relocation package for the right candidate. Ideal candidates hold a BS in engineering from an ABET program, a PE license, 10+ years in HV substation protection/telecoms, and fluent Spanish/English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 10+ years experience focusing on protection/control/telecommunications for high voltage substations; including design, installation, and coordination.
• PE license.
• Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role.
• Experience with relay calculations documentation.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Fully bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, and write).

Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering and design team on substation modifications and upgrades.
• Prepare relaying philosophies and configurations for SCADA and communications.
• Guide engineers and designers in protection and controls design.
• Troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues.
• Analyze single line diagrams, relaying/metering diagrams, and DC schematics.
• Prepare engineering studies for client peer review.
• Perform independent reviews of calculations and drawings.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and suppliers.
• Review existing facilities for upgrades and present recommendations.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and support knowledge sharing.
