Job summary

Dashiell Corporation, a Quanta Services company, is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer in our Austin, TX office. You will oversee multiple design teams, ensure project profitability and schedule, and apply advanced substation engineering standards across NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.

The role requires 15+ years in electrical power and strong leadership, with PE licensure or ability to obtain within a year. You will coordinate with construction and procurement, travel for site visits, and mentor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE); if registered in a state other than where the engineer will practice, must obtain within one year of hire.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in the electrical power industry, with extensive substation design experience.
• Experience managing a design team that includes multi‑discipline engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Extensive knowledge of high‑voltage substation components (138 kV and above).
• Extensive knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and profitability objectives.
• Supervise multiple project teams to ensure on-time completion.
• Assign projects to engineering teams based on requirements and resources.
• Coordinate engineering with construction and purchasing to meet milestones.
• Ensure compliance with project standards and efficient design progress.
• Communicate with customers, teams, and management as needed.
• Prepare and track schedules and budgets to stay on track.
• Apply engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and short‑circuit studies.
• Perform project engineering tasks as needed for deadlines.
• Mentor project teams and uphold engineering standards.
