Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services, is seeking a Supervising Substation Engineer to lead engineering teams in delivering high‑voltage substations in Houston, TX. The role requires overseeing design, scheduling, and quality across several concurrent projects from our Houston office.

You will direct resource allocation, mentor engineers, ensure compliance with NEC/NESC/IEEE/ANSI, and coordinate with construction and procurement to meet milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with ability to obtain license if already licensed elsewhere within one year of hire.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the electrical power industry with extensive substation engineering/design expertise.
• Experience leading a multi-discipline design team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Extensive knowledge of 138 kV+ substation components and HV systems.
• Strong understanding of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Proficiency with common engineering software and MS Office.
• Ability to supervise multiple project teams and coordinate with other departments and management.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, quality, and schedule performance of engineering teams on multiple substations projects.
• Supervise several project teams to ensure on-time project completion.
• Assign projects based on requirements, schedules, and personnel availability.
• Coordinate with construction and purchasing to meet milestones.
• Ensure design efforts follow project standards and progress efficiently.
• Communicate with customers, project teams, and management as needed.
• Prepare schedules and budgets, keeping projects within scope.
• Apply engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and fault studies.
• Provide engineering support to meet project schedules and standards.
• Ensure design work complies with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.
