Job summary

Power System Engineering, Inc. in Arden Hills, MN seeks a Substation Engineer to lead design projects, manage budgets, and coordinate with clients and contractors.

The candidate should have 5+ years of substation experience, knowledge of protection & control systems, and be prepared to work with AutoCAD/Bluebeam and NEC/IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred not required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
• 5+ years of experience in transmission, distribution, or substation engineering.
• Strong knowledge of substation design, protection & control systems, and utility operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation engineering projects from design through construction.
• Develop engineering designs and drawings (one-line/three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, AC/DC schematics).
• Provide technical consulting across substation design, system support, and utility operations.
• Manage projects with budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to ensure delivery.
• Conduct site visits for inspections, construction oversight, and quality assurance.
• Support installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical facilities.
• Perform technical reviews to ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
