Job summary

Power System Engineering Inc. seeks a Substation Engineer to lead substation design projects, gain experience in technical engineering, project management, and client collaboration. Based out of Arden Hills, MN with open options for other PSE offices or remote work.

The role emphasizes solving complex problems, delivering design and protection schemes, and collaborating with clients and contractors for successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred but not required).
• PE license or ability to obtain.
• 5+ years of experience in transmission, distribution, or substation engineering.
• Strong knowledge of substation design and utility operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation engineering projects from design through construction.
• Develop one-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Provide technical consulting on substation design and operations.
• Manage budgets, scheduling, and client communications.
• Collaborate with internal teams and contractors for project delivery.
• Conduct site visits for inspections and quality assurance.
• Support installation coordination, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Perform technical reviews to ensure standards compliance.
• Uphold PSE’s values of People, Problem-Solving and Progress.
