Job summary

M. A. Mortenson Company seeks an Engineer III or IV – Physical Substation to execute and lead substation designs for renewable/storage projects up to 500 kV. You will coordinate with design managers and project teams, applying sound engineering practice to develop robust options and deliverables.

The role requires strong communication, QA/QC discipline, and the ability to mentor engineers while advancing multiple large design projects to meet client requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) required.
• Experience researching design issues, evaluating options, and presenting recommendations.
• Knowledge of engineering software packages and project controls software (Procore).

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for large, multi-discipline substation projects.
• Coordinate with Design Phase Managers, Project Managers, and teams to deliver design packages.
• Provide technical support for proposals, estimating, detailed engineering, procurement, and construction.
• Mentor other engineering professionals and review vendor quotes.
• Develop preliminary and detailed designs; ensure QA/QC per Mortenson standards.
• Ensure documentation of technical data and adherence to safety codes.
