Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Lead Design Engineer in Structural Engineering to guide a team on nuclear facility projects, including upgrades and new builds at the Duane Arnold Energy Center. You will interface with clients and other disciplines.

The role starts remote, then hybrid with three days in the office. Requires a BSCE from an ABET-accredited program, PE/SE license, and experience with STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL or ANSYS. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (required).
• Ten or more years of experience in design/analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS).
• Proficiency with design codes and standards (ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• PE or SE license (required).
• MSCE degree is valued but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations; develop specifications; coordinate with designers for drawing development.
• Oversee structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification.
