Job summary
Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to guide a team of structural engineers on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades. You will interface with multidisciplinary engineers and clients to lead design, analysis, and drawing development for steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
The role requires a BSCE from an ABET-accredited program, 12+ years of relevant experience, and a PE or SE license. Hybrid work from Knoxville with potential site visits and travel as needed.
Qualifications
- BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 12+ years of experience in design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS).
- Knowledge of design codes such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
- PE or SE license.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a structural engineering team on projects for nuclear facilities and upgrades.
- Interface with engineers from other disciplines and with clients.
- Guide design calculations, develop specifications, and coordinate drawing development.
- Travel to client/vendor offices or plant sites for reviews and field verification if needed.
