Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior structural engineer to support nuclear power projects at the Duane Arnold Energy Center in Iowa. The role involves leading a design team, performing structural analysis for steel frames, concrete members, and foundations, and guiding junior engineers. Some travel to client/vendor sites may be required.

The position emphasizes collaboration across disciplines, applying modern tools and standards, and contributing to safety-focused, cost-effective designs.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Five or more years of experience on a project team designing and analyzing structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directly apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• Collaborate with a team of structural engineers and interface with other disciplines.
• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development.
