Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to guide a team of structural engineers on projects for nuclear facilities and upgrades at the Duane Arnold Energy Center. The role blends design, analysis, and client interaction, with opportunities to mentor and advance within a leading nuclear engineering firm.

Ideal candidates hold a BSCE, 10+ years of structural experience, and a PE/SE license, with proficiency in major design software and codes.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Ten or more years of experience on industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Directly apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• Work on a wide range of projects for various clients and provide design calculations and drawings guidance.
• Prepare or guide structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices or plant sites for design reviews and field verification.

Education

BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from ABET-accredited program

MSCE degree
