Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead structural engineer to guide a team in the design and analysis of nuclear facility structures at the Duane Arnold Energy Center. The role involves client interaction, mentoring, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.

The candidate will oversee calculations, specifications, and drawings for steel, concrete, and foundations, with potential travel for reviews and field verification. A PE/SE license and ABET-accredited BSCE are required.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Ten or more years of experience in design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Guide a team of structural engineers, interface with other disciplines, and liaise with clients.
• Prepare, review, or guide design calculations, develop specifications, and work with designers for drawing development.
• Lead the structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site coordination/field verification.
