Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead design engineer for structural engineering in the nuclear sector. The role blends leadership of a team of structural engineers with direct client interaction on projects for new facilities and upgrades.

Responsibilities include guiding calculations, developing specifications, and coordinating with cross-disciplinary teams. A PE/SE license and extensive ASCE/AISC/ACI code knowledge are required; domestic travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Ten+ years of experience in design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of structural engineers and interface with clients and other disciplines.
• Guide design calculations, develop specifications, and coordinate with designers for drawings.
• Oversee structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client/vendor offices or plant sites for reviews and field verification as needed.
