Job summary

Cooper Coffee and Wine is seeking an Assistant Manager to support day-to-day restaurant operations and ensure an exceptional guest experience. You will assist the Manager in overseeing colleagues, managing finances, and maintaining high standards of service and quality.

The role requires experience in leadership positions, budgeting, and a strong knowledge of hospitality regulations, with a focus on staffing, scheduling, inventory, and vendor management in a high-end setting.

Qualifications

• College or vocational degree in hotel/restaurant management, sales, or marketing.
• Minimum five years of experience in a leadership position in a 4- or 5-star restaurant, with a minimum of three years of progressive management.
• Accounting, budgeting, and financial statement working knowledge.
• Proven leadership qualities and ability to manage budgets and finances.
• Knowledge of state/federal labor, liquor, and restaurant laws.
• Excellent communication with guests, suppliers, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of restaurant operations, including staffing, scheduling, and inventory management.
• Be familiar with all menu items, beverages, etc.
• Maintain safe working conditions and practices.
• Conduct daily pre-meal meetings with service staff.
• Supervise the floor during operation; coordinate dining room functions.
• Set service staff schedules.
• Monitor and handle guest complaints; ensure guest satisfaction.
• Review departmental profits and payroll expenses.
• Review and maintain expense control sheets.
• Identify methods for efficiency and payroll cost reduction.
• Administer pay increases per policy standards.
• Assist in development of marketing ideas within the department.
• Prepare budget forecasts (monthly, quarterly, yearly).
• Conduct performance evaluations and disciplinary procedures.
• Expedite table turnover and table resetting.
• Coordinate ordering of supplies; conduct monthly inventory.
• Negotiate with external vendors.
