Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Manager in California to serve as the Owner’s professional representative on bridge, roadway, and general civil projects. You will ensure work aligns with contract documents and lead a team across multiple sites.

The role requires a CA P.E., BS in Civil Engineering, and 7+ years of construction contract management. Travel to BKF locations and client sites may be required; CALTRANS knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering is required.
• California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required.
• 7+ years of construction contract management experience on roadway/bridge projects.
• Working knowledge of CALTRANS/local agency projects and federal funding coordination is desirable.
• Ability to lead people and manage teams effectively.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Owner’s representative on bridge, roadway, and civil construction projects.
• Ensure projects built per contract documents and QA/QC standards.
• Manage professional and technical staff and contract administration.
• Review change orders, shop drawings, materials testing, and surveying activities.
• Lead weekly project meetings and coordinate utilities.
• Ensure compliance with EEO/labor requirements and safety standards.
• Prepare project documentation for state/federal highway requirements.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, and profitability for assignments.
