Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Renewable Energy Electrical Engineer to join our team across multiple US locations, including the Boulder, CO area. The role involves leading electrical design for renewable energy projects, coordinating with disciplines, and ensuring compliance with IEEE, NESC, ANSI, and NERC standards.

The candidate will oversee engineering deliverables, mentor junior staff, and manage project scope from concept to construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7–10 years of post-education electrical engineering design experience for power generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Engineer license is required.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure design and electrical codes/regulations.
• Experience with adjacent disciplines: P&C, SCADA, telecom.
• Experience with electrical infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.

Responsibilities

• Guide data collection, analysis, and design work per IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NERC standards.
• Coordinate and review electrical infrastructure design plans for compliance and quality.
• Develop and review one-line diagrams, grounding, protection coordination, and substation layouts.
• Lead cross-functional teams through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning stages.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design documentation for client reviews.
• Ensure QA/QC and regulatory compliance across projects from inception to completion.
