Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Renewable Energy Electrical Engineering Lead for its Buffalo, NY office with consideration for New York NY, Chicago IL, Boulder CO and Austin TX. You will lead electrical design and project delivery for solar PV and BESS across multiple sites, guiding teams and ensuring code-compliant, safe, and efficient outcomes.

The role involves overseeing DC/LV/MV systems, protection & controls, and collaboration with clients, engineers, and regulators to advance distributed generation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 7+ years of post-education experience as an electrical engineer in renewable energy.
• Professional Engineer license or eligibility within 1 year.
• Proficiency in electrical engineering design, interconnection, and code compliance.
• Experience with renewable energy system design and interconnection principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and guidance for DC/LV/MV electrical systems and protection & control scopes.
• Oversee multi-site due diligence, permitting, design, and construction of solar PV and energy storage projects.
• Develop electrical models, reviews, and calculations for varied project sizes.
• Coordinate with owners, sub-consultants, and clients for plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Mentor entry-level engineers and ensure QA/QC across work streams.
