Job summary

STR in Arlington, VA seeks a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to design and implement real-time DSP software for advanced radar systems. You will lead embedded software across the signal-processing chain and collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive requirements, architectures and roadmaps.

You will validate performance through simulations and field tests, prepare design docs and test plans, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Active SECRET clearance with eligibility to obtain a Top Secret (TS) clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Experience implementing real-time signal processing in C++ (C++17 or later).
  • Knowledge of radar systems and their design, development, verification, test planning, and data analysis.
  • Experience with real-time radar/remote sensing algorithms.
  • Experience with Xilinx MPSoC and/or RFSoC platforms.
  • Ability to deliver briefings and participate in technical reviews (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMS).
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD with relevant years of experience; equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develop DSP for radar/EW systems and lead embedded software efforts.
  • Architect, design, and implement embedded software for multi-function, deployable systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on requirements and system specifications.
  • Research and lead new embedded software approaches and technology roadmaps.
  • Prepare and document design specifications, test plans, and reports.
  • Communicate progress and technical concepts clearly to teams and customers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensure alignment within the team.
