Job summary

STR’s Systems Development Division (SDD) seeks a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement real-time DSP software for advanced radar systems. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, evaluate technical approaches, and drive the complete signal processing chain for deployable radar applications.

You will perform performance analysis, develop software architectures, and ensure deliverables meet quality and reuse standards.

Qualifications

  • Active SECRET clearance required with eligibility for TS clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field with 7+ years of experience (or 5+ years with a Master’s, 2+ with a PhD)
  • Experience implementing real-time signal processing in C++ (C++17+)
  • Experience with radar, electronic warfare, and DSP architectures
  • Knowledge of radar systems design, verification, and testing
  • Experience with Xilinx MPSoC/RFSoC platforms
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and briefing skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of DSP-enabled radar/EW systems
  • Architect and implement embedded software for multi-function deployable systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive system requirements
  • Research and lead new embedded software approaches and roadmaps
  • Document solutions with design specs, test plans, and reports
  • Perform performance analyses via simulations and real-world tests
  • Communicate effectively to STR management, customers, and stakeholders
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers on projects and reviews
