Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) seeks a Senior Relay Technician to lead protection and control projects, perform advanced testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning for substation and industrial systems.

This role requires deep expertise in analyzing protection schemes, managing complex projects, and leading field teams while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of substation and industrial (C&I) systems.

Qualifications

Pass a pre-employment drug screen due to safety sensitive position.
Background check required.
Willing to travel and work overtime as needed.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in substations.
Capable of troubleshooting distribution and transmission controls circuits.
Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

Lead job site safety briefings and promote a strong safety culture.
Analyze protection schemes and perform installation, commissioning, and testing of relay panels.
Execute end-to-end & functional testing using relay test equipment and software.
Read and validate protection schematics, diagrams and configurations.
Ensure calibration and performance of electromechanical and microprocessor relays.
Develop project execution plans, outage sequences, and energization plans.
Coordinate resources and field activities for large, complex projects.
Develop and finalize test results, relay settings verification, and performance reports.
Mentor Relay Technician I/II and junior engineers; interface with customers and stakeholders.
