Job summary

Fluidstack seeks a senior Power Generation Engineer to lead the selection, specification, and integration of generation equipment for high‑scale data-center infrastructure. You will own the end‑to‑end commissioning, performance tracking, and fleet optimization across engines, turbines or fuel cells.

You will define interoperable interfaces with PV and BESS, size units for reliability, and write rigorous acceptance tests.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating prime movers (engines, turbines or fuel cells) for real projects and explaining selection decisions.
• Ability to write equipment specifications and acceptance tests and ensure factory/site acceptance.
• Experience owning distributed generation in operation and optimizing performance and cost.
• Experience integrating generation with inverter-based resources on the same bus or islanded system.
• Experience commissioning generation through first fire and load testing, and diagnosing trips.
• Experience across multiple generation technologies or fuels and transferring knowledge to new projects.
• Clear technical writing that informs OEMs, site technicians and executives from the same document.

Responsibilities

• Own installation and commissioning of the generation fleet through first fire and load testing.
• Define interfaces to make engines, turbines or fuel cells interoperable with PV and BESS.
• Decide unit capacity, sizing, and redundancy for firming and backup roles.
• Write specs and acceptance tests for each qualified unit and ensure compliance.
• Track performance metrics: heat rate, availability, and maintenance cost per unit.
• Lead and hire rotating equipment engineers to support qualification and operations.
• Collaborate across teams to evolve block design and fleet-wide qualification.
