Job summary

Fluidstack is seeking an experienced Senior Grid Engineer to lead islanded and microgrid initiatives in a high-scale compute environment. You will own the system design basis, create repeatable grid blocks across sites, and author conformance content for generation, BESS, inverters and transformers before shipment.

You will drive stability, protection philosophy, load shedding strategies and vendor evaluations.

Qualifications

• Proven islanded grid design or very weak-grid experience at scale.
• Hands-on EMT modelling in PSCAD or equivalent with RMS.
• Experience generating load flow, short circuit and stability results.

Responsibilities

• Own the system design basis for islanded grid across sites within six months.
• Treat the block as a product, standardize designs across sites and freeze configurations.
• Write conformance content for generation, BESS, inverters and transformers before shipment.
• Build the study model and register, size generation and reserve, and evaluate vendor studies.
• Set stability and protection philosophy, including load shedding and reserve rules.
• Define phasing rules and study roadmap before long-lead procurement.
• Visit sites to validate designs and feed learnings back into standard designs.
• Lead the hiring of a protection engineer and EMT modelling specialist when needed.
