Job summary

Electrical Automation Services in Glendale, AZ is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to provide on-site automation support for a high-speed beverage facility. You will be the on-shift controls expert, collaborating with operations, maintenance, engineering and quality to resolve issues and improve throughput.

Responsibilities include PLC, HMI, VFD and motion-control troubleshooting, leading control projects, mentoring technicians, and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree in engineering technology or related field.
• 4+ years in industrial automation or controls in high-speed manufacturing.
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming.
• Experience with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial networks.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Excellent communication across plant departments.
• Willingness to work 2-2-3 night schedule (6 PM–6 AM).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-shift controls and automation expert.
• Provide Tier 1 and 2 troubleshooting for production equipment.
• Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, instrumentation, and motion-control issues.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and restore production safely and efficiently.
• Identify recurring issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Develop and execute controls projects to improve safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
• Support high-speed packaging, filling, conveying, and packaging systems.
• Participate in Management of Change for controls and process modifications.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams on improvements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to maintenance technicians and operators.
• Maintain PLC/HMI backups, drawings, and documentation.
• Support equipment commissioning and system integration projects.
