Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a seasoned Lead Software Engineer to architect and deliver real-time recommendations within the NBA platform. You will own the State Machine and Transactional Outbox, ensuring robustness, auditability, and scalable performance under high concurrency.

This hands-on leadership role combines architecture, coding, and mentoring across platform, data, and product teams to drive production readiness in a regulated healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 8+ years of full stack software engineering experience with leadership exposure.
• Strong experience with Java, Python, Node.js, or TypeScript.
• Experience designing automated testing frameworks and quality automation.
• Solid understanding of modern observability, logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Experience operating cloud-native applications on Kubernetes and container platforms.
• Ability to lead a small team while contributing as an active individual contributor.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and modern development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own the NBA platform's reliability, quality, and operational excellence.
• Lead platform delivery, planning, and release readiness across pods.
• Develop automated tests and observability capabilities; drive quality gates.
• Contribute production code and reliability tooling alongside engineers.
• Define logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting strategies for the platform.
• Lead reliability improvements to handle growth in membership and activity.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
