Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks a seasoned Lead Software Engineer to architect real‑time decisioning services and ensure scalable, auditable outcomes.

You will own State Machine and Transactional Outbox designs, mentor a team, and contribute hands‑on code in Java, Python, Node.js, and TypeScript across a distributed NBA platform. The role emphasizes automated testing, observability, reliability engineering, and production readiness with strong collaboration across platform, data, and product teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full stack software engineering experience, with at least 1–2 years leading platform reliability or production operations initiatives.
• Strong experience building production software across Java, Python, Node.js, or TypeScript stacks.
• Hands-on experience designing automated testing frameworks (unit/integration/end‑to‑end/load).
• Strong observability practices: logging, metrics, tracing, monitoring, alerting.
• Experience designing reliability patterns for distributed systems (fault tolerance, retries, resilience).
• Ability to lead a small engineering pod while remaining an active IC.
• Experience operating Kubernetes and container-based platforms.
• Clear communicator who articulates risks and tradeoffs to technical leaders.
