Intuit, Inc. invites a Lead Tax Processor and SME to join Payroll Tax Operations (PTO). You will own the most complex tax defect resolutions and govern SOPs, KB articles, and escalation handling with independence.

In this technical leadership role, you will coach teammates, run structured reviews, and ensure compliance while balancing risk and service levels in a dynamic, high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching examples.
• Expert knowledge of US tax regulations across jurisdictions, including local and state programs.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.
• Ownership of SLAs; proactive resolution of workflow barriers.
• 5+ years handling highly sensitive escalations with minimal leadership guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations for high-volume needs.
• Comfort with adopting AI tools to improve daily tasks and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1/TP2/TP3 staff.
• Own authoring, technical review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly structured coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead or contribute to team huddles and stand-ups as backup facilitator.
• Oversee WIP management, backlog reduction, and aging reports; advise staffing.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices including IRS/state inquiries.
• Approve complex amended returns with audit trails and ledger reconciliation.
• Identify trends and risks; communicate data-driven responses to stakeholders.
• Represent the team in cross-functional meetings with compliance focus.
