Job summary

Intuit seeks a Lead Tax Processor and SME to drive critical payroll tax initiatives. You will own complex casework, approve SOPs/KBs, and coach the team quarterly to reduce gaps. You’ll manage WIP, aging reports, and staffing needs, while addressing IRS/state notices with audit rigor and cross-functional collaboration.

The role blends technical mastery with leadership, enabling process improvements and risk management across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Previous formal lead/SME experience with coaching or mentoring staff.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across jurisdictions, including local and state programs.
• Advanced writing skills to author/approve SOPs and technical documents for tax processors.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff and coach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, reviewing, and approving SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles and daily stand-ups as backup facilitator.
• Oversee WIP, backlog and aging reports; suggest staffing adjustments.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices (IRS/state) and ensure audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks; report with data-driven recommendations.
