Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert (Level X5) for its Payroll Tax Operations team. You will own complex escalations, govern SOPs, coach teammates, and drive capacity building across the group.

You will act as the primary resource for TP1-TP3 staff, validating workflows, managing SLAs, and ensuring compliance. This remote role offers flexible hours with overtime eligibility and requires strong regulatory knowledge across US jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years payroll tax experience focusing on complex defect resolution.
• Lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching/j mentoring junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions.
• Advanced writing skills to create, review and approve SOPs and technical documents.
• Strong ownership of SLAs and proactive resolution of workflow barriers.
• 5+ years handling highly sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations for high-volume service needs.
• Comfort with leveraging AI tools to improve daily tasks and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time expert for TP1-TP3, teaching resolution paths to build team capability.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly structured coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead or contribute to team huddles and QA sessions and act as backup for Daily Stand-Ups.
• Maintain mastery of daily operations, oversee WIP, backlog and aging reports, and advise staffing needs.
• Resolve severe State and Federal payroll tax notices including IRS discrepancies.
• Approve complex Federal/State amended returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; communicate findings with data-driven responses.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with a focus on compliance and risk.
