Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert (Level X5) for Payroll Tax Operations. You will own the most complex escalations, approve SOPs, coach the team, and drive structured routines to build workforce capacity.

This role requires 4+ years in payroll tax with multi-state experience, leadership exposure, advanced technical writing, and comfort with AI tools to improve team workflows. You will work closely with the M1 manager to manage WIP and aging reports across states.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution.
• Lead or SME with coaching junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of tax payments and filing regulations across US jurisdictions.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.
• Ownership of SLA and red flags to prevent workflow blockers.
• Validation-first mindset, offering vetted solutions.
• 5+ years handling highly sensitive escalations.
• 4+ years in contact center/back-office operations.
• Comfort with using AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly coaching using the SBIC model.
• Lead or support team huddles and QA sessions.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across states.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; communicate findings.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with risk-informed options.
