Job summary

Intuit's SelectTime team seeks a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert (Level X5) to own and resolve the most complex payroll tax escalations across TP1-TP3. You will govern SOPs, review knowledge base articles, and coach the team to build capability and reduce dependency.

In this remote, hourly role, you will drive process improvements, manage WIP and aging reports, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure compliance and accurate filings across states.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching or training junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across jurisdictions and local taxes.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.
• Strong ownership of SLAs and proactive workflow improvement.
• Experience handling highly sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• 5+ years in contact center or back-office operations for high-volume needs.
• Comfortable using AI tools to improve daily tasks and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff and train resolution paths.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Coach team members quarterly using SBIC feedback to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog reduction, and aging reports; advise staffing changes.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across multi-jurisdictional filings.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks, reporting findings with data-driven actions.
• Represent the team in cross-functional meetings and provide risk-informed options.
