Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to own the most complex payroll tax issues in a fast-paced environment. You will approve SOPs, author knowledge articles, and coach team members to build enduring capability.

The role requires extensive multi-state tax knowledge, strong writing skills, and a proactive, ownership-minded approach to resolving escalations and improving processes across the team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on complex tax defect resolution, notice response, and multi-state filings.
• Experience as lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching or training juniors.
• Expert knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions, including local and state programs.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents for tax processor audiences.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time go-to technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff, guiding resolution paths to build capability.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions at least quarterly to close skill gaps.
• Lead or contribute to team huddles, QA sessions, and stand-ups as backup facilitator.
• Oversee WIP management, backlog reduction, and aging reports to advise staffing adjustments.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices, including IRS discrepancies and state audits.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify systemic trends and risks; communicate findings with data-driven responses.
