Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking a Lead Patient Access Representative to support the Emergency Department at the Avondale campus. The role involves guiding families through registration, supervising Patient Access Representatives, and ensuring accurate, efficient processes in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule: Wed–Sat, 8:30 PM–7:00 AM, with overnight and weekend differentials. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential to coordinate with staff and IT for registration systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of professional/clinical experience or healthcare with at least one year in registration.
• EMR experience required.
• Two years of customer service experience required.
• Follow payer or governmental requirements as required by the organization.
• Advanced knowledge of Patient Access/Admissions/Registration functions.
• Ability to speak and write Spanish preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of insurance, registration process, and third party payors.
• Strong multitasking and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Understands and fills in for staff as needed and performs all functions of Patient Access Representative.
• Understands front end registration modules in Vision and AMPFM; communicates with IT as needed.
• Conducts training to ensure staff understands registration, insurance verification and treatment authorization.
• Provides input regarding staff performance to supervisors.
• Resolves problems with internal and external clients and involves supervisors as necessary.
• Maintains positive relationships with patients, guarantors, insurers and staff to promote teamwork.
• Leads quality and productivity management processes.
• Maintains knowledge of payers to ensure accurate billing and compliance with laws and agreements.
• Participates in training programs to maintain skills and competency.
• Performs miscellaneous job duties as requested.
