Job summary

Cox Fleet, a Cox Automotive Company, seeks a Sr. Mobile Diesel & Trailer Mechanic for on-site field work nationwide. You will perform DOT inspections, PMs, and complex repairs on trucks and trailers in mobile and fixed-site settings.

Strong diagnostics, tool handling, and communication with customers are essential. The role requires a HS diploma or GED with 5+ years in the field, ASE T8 and ASE 608/609 certifications (or equivalent with progress toward them), and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years' related field experience, or alternative combos with 3–7 years of experience.
• DOT/FMCSA regulations knowledge and compliance experience.
• DOT medical card or ability to obtain one within required window.
• Completion of required safety and company training.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain Driver Qualification File.
• Supply and maintain a toolset to perform required duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PM, DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light–heavy vehicles in a mobile/field setting.
• Repair and adjust trailer equipment and truck systems (electrical, brakes, air lines, engines, transmissions).
• Diagnose, test, and repair complex equipment using diagnostics tools and handheld devices.
• Inspect vehicles and parts, document findings, and upload photos to RO via TRAIT app.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and communicate results to customers and management.
• Manage parts inventory on the service truck and coordinate with vendors as needed.
• Complete DOT forms and other required documentation accurately and on time.
