Job summary

Cox Fleet, a Cox Automotive Company, is hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel & Trailer Mechanic to perform DOT inspections, PMs, and complex repairs in a field/mobile setting. You will serve as a lead on jobsites, triaging advanced diagnostics and coordinating with customers to ensure high-quality service.

The role requires robust mechanical skills across diesel engines, electrical, hydralic, and trailer systems, plus the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; 5 years of related field experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools to perform duties.
• DOT/FMCSA-related prerequisites and DOT medical card requirements, with ability to obtain.
• ASE certifications listed above or obtained within 18 months are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on light to heavy-duty vehicles in mobile/field settings.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer and truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling, and engine systems.
• Maintain and operate company service truck; conduct safety checks and pre/post-trip inspections.
• Document work using company TRAIT app and upload RO findings with parts used and photos.
• Communicate with management to obtain approvals on estimates and POs.
• Independently manage parts inventory and support daily scheduling with minimal supervision.
