Job summary

Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician II to perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and complex repairs on light to heavy-duty trucks in a mobile/field setting. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical systems, manage parts on the service truck, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

The role emphasizes independent scheduling, effective communication with customers, and delivering high-quality service across nationwide mobile fleets.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of related field experience; or 5 years with a HS diploma/GED.
• Experience with refrigerated equipment is required.
• Must supply a set of hand tools to perform duties.
• DOT/FMCSA regulations experience preferred and DOT background checks may apply.
• DOT medical card or possible DOT physical if card expires soon.
• Must be 21+ years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain Driver Qualification File.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PMs, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs in mobile/field environments.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, brake, cooling systems, engines, transmissions, and other truck components.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and diagnose malfunctions.
• Inspect, test, and document findings using RO and TRAIT app on company devices.
• Manage parts inventory on service trucks and coordinate with vendors for parts.
• Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
