Job summary

Mercy Health’s Core Laboratory - St. Joseph in Warren is seeking a Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) to supervise testing and deliver high-quality results.

The role supports the Technical Specialist in implementing procedures and ensures proficiency testing adherence in a dynamic lab environment. The ideal candidate has a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science, MLS certification or eligibility, and 2 years of lab experience (5 years preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field from a CLIA-approved program.
• MLS certification or eligible (ASCP preferred) within 12 months from hire date.
• 2 years of clinical lab experience required; 5 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties of a Medical Lab Scientist in a lead capacity.
• Assists Technical Specialist with new procedures and policies.
• Coordinates proficiency testing and ensures timely review of results.
• Recommends changes to improve workflow accuracy and efficiency.
• Maintains department schedules and compliance responsibilities.
