Job summary

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) seeks a Maintenance Worker at Mansfield to lead inmate crews in semi-skilled and skilled repair tasks, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry and grounds work. Responsibilities span inspections, preventive maintenance, and tool security.

The role supports interior custodial duties, snow removal, and emergency responses within a secure environment, with emphasis on safety and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications

• 12 months training or 12 months experience in maintenance repair (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry) and use of hand & power tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead worker over inmates or staff for semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks.
• Perform maintenance repair of equipment (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC-related components).
• Carry out interior custodial duties and exterior grounds keeping.
• Inspect buildings and equipment for needed repairs; perform preventive maintenance.
• Operate machine tools and welding equipment for metal repairs.
• Manage tool security and inventory; assist related trades.
• Control inmate movement in work areas and participate in safety/security procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and attend trainings/meetings.
