Job summary

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a skilled maintenance worker at London Correctional Institute in London, OH. The role focuses on semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repairs across electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and grounds tasks.

You will oversee inmate workers, conduct inspections, perform preventive maintenance, and support a secure, safe facility environment in coordination with security and custodial staff.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in maintenance repair (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment).
• Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by Sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code; in Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry only, applicants must have completed the mandated basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course (S-130/S-190).

Responsibilities

• Leads work direction and training over inmates or staff in semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repair tasks (electrical, carpentry, grounds, plumbing).
• Performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repairs on equipment and fixtures (lights, outlets, switches, motors, appliances, heating/cooling components).
• Performs carpentry repairs on doors, locks, cabinets, floors, walls, windows, stairs, partitions.
• Performs plumbing repairs (pipes, fixtures, pumps, valves, faucets, toilets, sinks).
• Performs interior custodial duties and exterior grounds upkeep.
• Removes snow and ice; inspects buildings and equipment for needed repairs; conducts preventive maintenance.
