Job summary

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) London Correctional Institution seeks a skilled maintenance worker to lead semi-skilled and skilled repairs across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds. You will supervise inmates, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safe, operational facilities.

Strong knowledge of multiple trades, ability to train others, and adherence to security protocols is essential.

Qualifications

• Formal arithmetic education including addition and subtraction, reading, writing, and speaking English.
• 12 months of maintenance repair training or experience (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and tool use).
• Valid CDL required if motor equipment is regulated by state law; firefighter course for NNRD only applicants.

Responsibilities

• Provide work direction and training to inmates or staff engaged in maintenance tasks.
• Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repairs (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, grounds).
• Inspect buildings and equipment for needed repairs; perform preventive maintenance.
• Operate machine tools and welding equipment for metal part repairs.
• Manage tools, conduct counts/inventories, and maintain security of work areas.
• Assist in related trades and restrict inmate movement as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in meetings and trainings.
