Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Herndon seeks a Senior Electrical Hardware Development Engineer to architect and lead the development of next-generation cloud infrastructure hardware.

You will drive complex PCB designs leveraging FPGA SoCs in our dedicated product development lab. This role requires 10+ years of hardware engineering experience, mastery of motherboard design and high-speed digital/mixed-signal circuits, and an active TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Basic qualifications: Bachelor's in electrical engineering; 10+ years hardware engineering experience.
• Experience with motherboard design and FPGA SoC hardware integration; hardware validation and debugging.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead development of complex PCB designs incorporating FPGA SoCs.
• Drive system-level hardware architecture decisions and technical requirements.
• Lead NPI processes with contract manufacturers.
• Develop and validate high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuits.
• Ensure designs meet EMI/EMC, thermal, and signal integrity requirements.
• Partner with FPGA/firmware teams to define hardware interfaces.
• Lead design reviews and drive technical consensus across teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish hardware engineering best practices.
