Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Northern Virginia seeks a Senior Electrical Hardware Development Engineer to architect and lead the development of next‑generation cloud infrastructure hardware, including FPGA SoC based PCBA designs, in a dedicated product development lab.

The role requires a US Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance and polygraph, experience driving NPI processes, EMI/EMC, and signal integrity, and close collaboration with FPGA/firmware teams; mentoring and engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent required.
• 10+ years of hardware engineering experience required.
• Experience with motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout required.
• Experience with FPGA SoC hardware integration, hardware validation and debugging required.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above required.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead development of complex PCB designs incorporating FPGA SoCs.
• Drive system-level hardware architecture decisions and technical requirements.
• Lead new product introduction (NPI) processes with contract manufacturers.
• Develop and validate high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuits.
• Ensure designs meet EMI/EMC compliance, thermal, and signal integrity requirements.
• Partner with FPGA/firmware teams to define hardware interfaces and requirements.
• Lead design reviews and drive technical consensus across multiple teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish hardware engineering best practices.
