Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Senior Staff Computer Systems Architect to lead enterprise application architecture across the Strategy and Architecture team. You will guide portfolio decisions, define standards, and drive modernization while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure a coherent landscape across EPA, EMS, and ERP domains.

The role allows virtual telecommuting within 90 miles of a major Northrop Grumman location for occasional onsite meetings. A U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 14+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with fewer years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.
• Demonstrated experience in application architecture, portfolio architecture, enterprise systems architecture, or application modernization leadership.
• Experience defining enterprise application standards, reference patterns, target-state architecture direction, or portfolio guardrails across complex environments.
• Strong understanding of application lifecycle management, modernization strategy, integration patterns, technical debt considerations, and how decisions affect business operations.
• Experience influencing enterprise application-related architecture decisions across multiple teams or domains.
• Ability to connect business priorities and technology directions into coherent architecture decisions.
• Strong TOGAF knowledge if not TOGAF certified.
• Experience with enterprise architecture best practices and governance.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise application architecture principles, target-state patterns, and portfolio guardrails.
• Guide modernization, rationalization, reuse, integration, and lifecycle planning across the portfolio.
• Partner with stakeholders to improve coherence in enterprise application decisions.
• Translate priorities into practical roadmaps, standards, and architecture expectations.
• Identify duplication, fragmentation, and technical debt across the landscape.
• Participate in architecture reviews, governance, and modernization initiatives.
• Develop recommendations to improve reuse and investment coherence across the enterprise.
• Mentor architects and leaders on architecture methods and expectations.
• Support executive communication on architecture risks and modernization implications.
