Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a senior lead designer to supervise a team of designers and deliver electrical and instrumentation deliverables. This role requires extensive experience, strong NEC knowledge, and expertise in 480VAC/15kV systems, with on-site startup support and client interaction.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with multi-discipline teams, and ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and quality expectations.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design.
• Familiarity with NEC and current wiring practices.
• Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for lighting and power.
• Ability to perform lighting level and voltage drop calculations.
• Ability to route conduit and cable tray and to calculate tray/conduit fill.
• Ability to develop equipment specifications for 480VAC and 15kV systems with review and approval.
• Experience leading and mentoring a design staff and coordinating multi-discipline checks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide technical direction to a team of designers as lead designer.
• Deliver electrical/instrumentation deliverables on time and within budget and meet quality standards.
• Produce installation details, MCC single lines, layouts, and grounding, plus control panel drawings.
• Coordinate work with other staff and the discipline lead; report progress and delays.
• Assist on-site during startup and support client interactions on technical matters.
• Mentor junior designers and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Provide cost estimates and construction quantity determinations; assign tasks by skill.
