Job summary

Ericsson Inc. is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport within customer data centers. You will act as the interface between customers and vendors, ensuring high-quality execution across installations, migrations, and remote hands services.

The role requires hands-on fiber cabling and optical testing expertise, strong customer-facing communication, and the ability to travel up to 50% to non-home market sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Team lead experience.
• Strong command of written and verbal English.
• Excellent organizational, administrative, and documentation skills.
• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations or similar environment.
• Hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling (single-mode/multi-mode).
• Demonstrated experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed in high-availability settings.
• Commitment to safety standards and quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person, delivering clear reports.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing using meters, light sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by following MoPs, engineering docs, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and network designs to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
