Job summary

GEO Group in Colorado is seeking an Administrative Captain to supervise correctional personnel and oversee custody, security and treatment operations. You will apply agency policies, direct staff, review post orders, and ensure procedures are understood and consistently followed.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate independent judgment, emotional stability, and the ability to coordinate staffing for security supervisors and officers.

Qualifications

• Must meet the qualifications as an Officer.
• Minimum high school graduate or equivalent; related college courses highly desirable.
• Minimum of three years in a correctional setting with supervisory experience.
• Emotionally stable, flexible, cooperative and empathetic to detainees.
• Knowledge of corrections law and court orders.
• Ability to communicate with a variety of personalities.
• Ability to interpret complex instructions and to make decisions independently.
• Ability to lead staffing for security supervisors and officers.
• Ability to write policies, courtroom defenses and other written documents.

Responsibilities

• Direct the work of other employees, including hiring, training, evaluation and discipline.
• Develop and implement custody, security and treatment policies and procedures.
• Respond to major incidents and provide prompt assistance to detainees.
• Promote a constructive environment for detainees and staff through facility planning.
• Review disciplinary matters and maintain daily logs and records.
• Ensure compliance with rules and procedures for security operations.
• Provide training and inspections as needed; cross-train for coverage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
