Job summary

The Compounding Pharmacist at Hims & Hers will supervise all compounding activities in the compounding laboratory, ensure quality, and support technicians. Reporting to the Head Compounding Pharmacist and Pharmacist-In-Charge, you will oversee procedures, training, and compliance with USP standards.

This role emphasizes patient safety, adherence to FDA and Arizona state regulations, and continuous improvement through SOPs and CQI initiatives. Shift is 5:30pm–4:00am with a $9/hour differential.

Qualifications

  • Pharmacist license in Arizona (active).
  • 2+ years of pharmacist experience.
  • Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to wear PPE and handle hazardous drugs per USP <795> & <800>.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise all compounding personnel namely pharmacy technicians and essential pharmacy support personnel.
  • Perform and accurately document compounding procedures, quality assurance/quality control checks, and dispensing of compounded preparations.
  • Verify formula records, compounding records, beyond use dates, and finished compounded products.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of compounding personnel.
  • Coordinate the calibration, maintenance, and use of equipment to compound prescription orders and monitor the compounding environment in conjunction with the maintenance team.
  • Follow all safety, USP, BOP, and internal guidelines for the preparation of compounded medications.
  • Maintain a safety-first mindset and ensure precautions are taken in all compounding activities within the lab, including when working with hazardous chemicals in accordance with USP <800> and applicable laws.
  • When required, wear all personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must have knowledge of all principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding- specifically USP <795>, <800>, other USP general chapters, and best compounding practices.
  • Perform pharmacist related activities such as patient consultation and error documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) for personnel, compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives, projects, tasks, and audits as part of our Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.
  • Willingness to complete external training as required.
  • Drive quality efforts by adhering to standard operating procedures.
  • Follow all state and pharmacy regulations and rules as designated by the Arizona State of Pharmacy and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment as mandated by the FDA’s rules and regulations.
  • Provide a world class pharmacy experience for every one of our patients.
  • Perform pharmacist duties such as drug utilization reviews, patient counseling, and dispensing activities.
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
  • Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned including, but not limited to: inventories, project work, compounding, record keeping, training, technician tasks and auditing processes
