Job summary

Fluence is seeking a Commissioning Engineer/Manager to lead end-to-end commissioning of energy storage projects in Germany. You will drive safe, on-schedule deployment, coordinating with construction, contractors, and control-system teams while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Travel up to 80% is required. The role reports to the Germany Commissioning Manager and offers exposure to global EPC projects within a cutting-edge energy storage portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Chemistry).
• 5+ years in commissioning or related fields.
• Experience leading safety initiatives in operations.
• Proven problem-solving using structured, data-driven analysis.
• Experience with project execution, reporting, change management, and workforce planning.
• Strong project planning, organization, and coordination across multiple teams.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customers and partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Practical experience with SCADA systems and MODBUS communications.
• Fluent German and English, written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities for utility-scale energy storage projects, ensuring safe, high-quality, and timely project execution.
• Champion and maintain Fluence’s safety culture, ensuring SMS compliance.
• Develop comprehensive commissioning plans and schedules for large EPC projects.
• Execute commissioning activities with construction managers, contractors, suppliers, telecom teams, and control system specialists.
• Define, develop, and implement testing protocols based on regulations, utility requirements, and customer specifications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve project execution processes and commissioning standards.
• Implement regional and global commissioning processes and provide feedback for improvement.
• Partner with Sales during project development to support planning and execution strategies.
• Coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders to meet objectives efficiently.
